How It Works
First off, when you decide to continue with our E-Learning course, you will need to purchase credits from us here at Brookside Fire Service. Each credit gives 1 staff member access to the online training and it's important to note that upon purchase of the credits, you have 12 months in which to use them.
You will then be issued these access codes via email and you and your staff can then complete the course at your earliest convenience.
The course usually takes approximately ½ an hour to complete and all delegates are issued with a certificate on completion.
Why is fire safety training important?
Fire awareness and fire safety are essential life skills. Being able to recognise fire hazards, handle emergency situations, and take actions that reduce danger and risk can ultimately save lives.
To improve workplace safety and readiness, it is essential to invest in fire safety training. Employers may believe that there are more pressing issues or costs to deal with, but the value of giving employees the assurance and information they need to respond quickly and efficiently in the case of a fire cannot be quantified in monetary terms. Additionally, companies are required by law to give workers pertinent fire safety training under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
There are several key reasons why fire safety training in the workplace is essential. By ensuring that your employees receive thorough and honest fire safety instruction, you not only improve the safety of your business but also enhance employee welfare and overall workplace readiness.
Benefits of fire safety training
Safety of Employees
The most obvious reason for conducting fire safety training in the workplace is to protect your employees. They are the driving force behind your business, and failing to ensure their safety means neglecting the core of your operation.
When employees are uncertain or lack confidence in fire safety plans, their productivity may suffer as they feel distracted and uneasy. It is essential for employees to feel safe in the workplace, and this sense of security extends to visitors and customers as well. Fire safety training plays a crucial role in fostering peace of mind, ensuring that everyone feels protected and prepared in case of an emergency.
Life-long skills
Fire safety is a valuable skill that will benefit employees throughout their lives. It is highly transferable, not only enhancing their confidence and awareness in the workplace but also making them more prepared and assured in their homes and everyday situations.
Legal duties
The "Responsible Person" of any non-domestic property is tasked with conducting a fire risk assessment under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This entails identifying those who could be at risk and putting policies in place to lessen or eliminate fire hazards.
Fire safety training is frequently emphasised as an essential component in this fire risk evaluation. You may show your dedication to protecting your team and lowering the danger of fire by giving staff thorough training and maintaining documentation of the safety training procedure.
